Training for Parents

BCRG developes workshops aimed at helping parents better understand the developmental needs of their children. Topics such as behaviour management, pre-literacy and phonics and Makaton have been offered. The workshops are held locally and scheduled to suit those parents who participate. Child care can be made available to help parents attend.

The Occupational Therapy "Communication Sensation " projects a FREE group program designed for children with sensory processing, behavioural and communication difficulties.  The caregiver and child will be guided to engage in positive interactions and learning opportunities that will promote and enhance child behaviour, communication.

Be the best parent you can be!  BCRG is providing the Triple P Positive Parenting Program for FREE.  Run by a trained professional the Triple P program is an eight week small group program to look at positive parenting strategies in detail. This is important to raising healthy, well-adjusted children who have the skills and confidence they need to succeed at school and in their relationships with others.

Training for Child Care Centre Staff and Community Workers

In the past BCRG provided a calendar of training opportunities for child care centre staff in the Bankstown LGA. The training was locally based and covered a wide range of topics in the early childhood field. We will continue to provide training which is relevant to the needs of the child care centre staff and other community workers.  The Bankstown Children Services’ Forum is currently implementing various information sessions and workshops for more information please click here 

BCRG is currently implementing The TICL Program. This program will place a qualified speech pathologist into four centres per year for a ten week block of training over four years. Click here for more information

BCRG is convening the South West Sydney Forum for Professionals Working with Aboriginal children 0-5 years.  With a shared purpose of promoting the wellbeing of Aboriginal children, we invite professionals working with Aboriginal Children 0-5 to be part of our forum in the South West Sydney region.  Click here for more information about this forum or call Anna on 9796 2931.

In  August 2008 BCRG, as convenor and member of the Community Based Partnerships consortium, funded through Bankstown City Council, organised a workshop on "tips for developing a successful consortium model" for community organisations in Bankstown.
