Speech Pathology Current Projects

Assessment Service

Funded through the Department of Human Services, Ageing, Disability and Home Care, the BCRG speech pathologists can provide free comprehensive speech assessments to eligible children in the Bankstown LGA.  Depending on the outcome of the assessment, a child may then be eligible for free group therapy.

Therapy Service

The School Readiness Group

Group therapy for a small group of children who's families are planning to send them to school in the following year.  These children will have similar communication and social skills needs.  The therapy is conducted through fun activities similar to those the children will encounter when they enter school.  The therapist engages the child using the child's interests and strengths. The therapist will support families to learn communication and social skills strategies by modeling these strategies in the group setting.  Families can then practice and reinforce these strategies in the home.

The Early Language Group

Training and Support Services

Our speech pathologists offer training on a variety of speech and language development topics to child care centre staff from services in the Bankstown Local Government Area.

Support for clients of other community services

BCRG provided speech pathology services, training and resources to The Benevolent Society (BENSOC), on a contract basis, to support BENSOC’s Brighter Futures program. These services supported children and families who are deemed to be “at risk” by providing speech assessment and therapy to children identified as having speech and language problems. Our Speech Pathologists provided training and resources to BENSOC staff to enhance their service delivery to clients.

BCRG continues to provide support to BENSOC's Brighter Futures clients on a needs basis.
