Bankstown Area Neighbourhood Centre (BANC) Network
The Executive Officer of BCRG Inc. has been the facilitator of the
Bankstown Area Neighbourhood Centre Network for the past six years.
The BANC Network is made up of local community organisations located
throughout the Bankstown LGA. Members include BCRG, Chester Hill
Neighbourhood Centre, Coolaburoo Neighbourhood Centre, Creating Links
and Woodville Community Services. The central aim of BANC Network
is to initiate grass roots community development in Bankstown, to
act as a communication channel between services located across the
entire LGA, breakdown both geographic and professional isolation,
debrief, share information and peer support.
BANC Consortium – CB Partnerships
In light of recent funding reform introduced across both federal and
state government departments and the competitive nature of open tender
processes, BANC Network members became increasingly interested in the
process of establishing formal partnership arrangements.
In 2006, the BANC Network was successful in receiving Bankstown City
Council funding to work with a planning facilitator to develop a framework
for establishing a formal collaborative consortium model - the BANC
Consortium Framework Planning Project.
This project is an example of true service collaboration involving
Bankstown City Council, BCRG, Coolaburoo Neighbourhood Centre, Creating
Links, Greenacre Area Neighbourhood Centre and Woodville Community
Services.
The BANC Consortium group – known as CB Partnerships have been
developing structures for the management of a formal consortium.
Some
of these management structures have included:
- Memorandum of understanding
- Decision making, delegation and accountability
- Roles and responsibilities
- Terms of reference
CB Partnerships hope that the process in developing
this “best
practice model’, will be documented in a format that can be used
by other community organisations.
